Vivek Kumar Tandon
In a career spanning 35 years, Mr. Vivek Kumar Tandon has served as the Additional Standing Counsel (Civil) for the Government of NCT of Delhi, at the Delhi High Court. During his tenure, he has represented the Government of NCT of Delhi and its various departments in various matters of State and national importance since 1999.
He was appointed as Court Commissioner by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi vide order dated 04.05.2005 in WP(C) No. 3502 of 2000, for revival of Water Bodies and has been actively working for the same since then. On account of his relentless efforts many water bodies of our Capital City have been rejuvenated, such as the Purana Qila Lake, Naini Lake in Model Town, etc.
He was also appointed as a Special Counsel for Ms. Shailja Chandra, the then Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi in a Contempt Matter before the Central Administrative Tribunal and similarly, for various other High-ranking bureaucrats and dignitaries of the Government of India.
He has been appointed as Special Counsel for various high-profile and high stakes matters, one of them being appointed as Special Counsel for Director of Education to defend matters pertaining to Nursery Admissions issue before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
He has similarly been appointed as Special Counsel for Government of NCT of Delhi before the Central Administrative Tribunal to defend the Directorate of Education in various Original Applications as well as Contempt Petitions.
He has also represents many banks in his clientele like Canara Bank, Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Delhi Nagrik Sehkari Bank.
A well-known member of the Bar, he shares a friendly camaraderie with both senior and young members of the fraternity. He has also served as the Joint Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) in the term of 1995 and the Member Executive of CAT Bar Association for the term of 1999.
He has a keen interest in mentoring and guiding young professionals in the rollercoaster journey of litigation and is often seen giving help and advices to the young litigators in the courtrooms and his chambers, which is always open for everyone for any assistance.
